Nowadays, PDF files are becoming more and more popular and spread and almost every type of document distributed over the Internet or help files located on the CDs of hardware products are PDF files. This document format has a big number of advantages, it takes up little disk space, it's easy to read and it's secure, being difficult to modify or alter by unauthorized users. Another advantage is the fact that users don't have to install a complex program, like Microsoft Word, for viewing doc files, but only a small viewer. Adobe Reader is, in this case, the best choice. Still, there are people who would like to create PDF files, not just view them. Adobe has also built a software for creating PDF files, but unfortunately, it's expensive, it requires more-than-average system resources and also, it's very difficult to use, especially by beginners. Though, there is a software that can create PDF files out of any type of application and that's PDF reDirect.

It's very easy to install and completes this process extremely fast. Also, compared to other PDF creation programs, it's very light on the system resources and also supports running on every version of Microsoft Windows.

The program's behavior is simple. The user can use the printing command as usual from his preferred application, but when selecting the desired printer, it must select PDF reDirect. After clicking on the Print button, the PDF reDirect interface will be launched automatically and it will intercept the printing job, displaying it in a queue. At this point, the user can configure various settings of the PDF file, like the quality, the color model, the layout of the page and can also encrypt the PDF file using a password. Moreover, the printer properties can be configured in the same way the user would configure a real one. This makes PDF reDirect compatible with virtually any program that supports printing.

After he has done configuring the program, the user can select a path to save the final PDF file. More printing jobs from more than one program can be added to the software and also, the settings for each of them can be customized.

Pros

It allows creating PDF files from virtually any software that supports regular printing. In addition, it includes a lot of settings for configuring the PDF file.

Cons

The large number of options may confuse a first-time user, as he may not know which settings to choose. PDF reDirect is a great program for creating PDF files out of any application that supports printing.
